Cafe Grita is a quietly tucked-away café on Morwick Street in Strathfield that draws in a mix of locals looking for a relaxed spot to enjoy coffee and all-day breakfast with subtle Asian influences. The café’s interior is bright and airy, kept impeccably clean, lending itself well to both casual catch-ups and solo visits that lean towards study or remote work. Despite its somewhat hidden location behind another building, it offers a peaceful retreat from the busier parts of Strathfield Centre.

Visitors here tend to appreciate the quality of coffee, which is often mentioned as a highlight. Specialty drinks like the Sweet Potato Latte and Belgian Hot Chocolate give a slightly different spin on traditional café beverages. It's an inviting place for anyone wanting to start their morning with a focused coffee break or to linger over a leisurely brunch.

The menu leans heavily into breakfast and brunch items, mixing Western café staples with interesting twists — the Triple Truffle Mushroom dish, for example, gets nods for its rich, earthy flavors. Other popular choices include breakfast wraps, big breakfast plates, and unique offerings like Butter Truffle Pasta. There are enough options to satisfy a range of palates, including vegetarian selection and lighter fruit or granola bowls.

In terms of atmosphere, the café’s light-filled space creates a calm environment that can feel refreshing compared to more bustling cafés nearby. The friendly and attentive staff add to a low-key vibe where service feels personal without being intrusive. This makes it a natural spot for morning commuters grabbing something takeaway or groups of friends meeting over brunch on weekends.

Price-wise, some menu items trend towards the higher side, reflecting the specialty ingredients and crafted beverages. The café's quieter, tucked-away location means it’s less a busy hub and more of a spot for those who prioritize comfort and quality over convenience or quick turnover.

  • Best for: Breakfast or brunch with a twist, quality coffee, casual catch-ups or focused solo visits
  • Who will enjoy it most: Locals who enjoy subtle flavours and a calm café atmosphere, as well as coffee aficionados
  • Best time to visit: Mornings and weekend brunch hours for a full meal; weekday mornings for takeaway coffee
  • Atmosphere: Bright, clean, and peaceful, with friendly service and a relaxed pace

This is a hidden gem with some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted! The cafe itself is impeccably clean and offers a very peaceful, refreshing setting once you're inside. I tried the strawberry and matcha dessert bingsu (shaved ice), which was incredibly refreshing. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is the location. It was quite difficult to find as it's tucked away behind a building, and parking was a real challenge. However, the quality of the coffee and the peaceful atmosphere are worth the effort—I’ll definitely be coming back!

Best coffee in Strathfield! The staff are always generous and friendly, and I usually grab takeaways, but the cafe itself has such a lovely, welcoming ambience. Edit- I recently came here for breakfast with a friend and tried the Triple Truffle Mushroom, Chicken Avocado Sandwich, Baked Eggs, American Brownie, Banana Bread, and of course, their coffee. Everything was absolutely delicious the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the coffee was as perfect as ever. Highly recommend Cafe Grita for both takeaway and dine-in. Definitely my go-to spot in Strathfield!

A cute cafe tucked away in the hidden streets of Strathfield. Brightly lit, great place to catch up or study. We ordered drinks and the injeolmi bingsu. Personally, I enjoyed the bingsu but it is quite plain as the ice is just milk flavoured with injeolmi sprinkled around but I appreciate the effort in terms of them trying to distribute injeolmi flavour throughout layers of the bingsu. Quite pricey for bingsu but it is a generous serving. Also comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, red bean and rice cakes. The coffee frappe was great but the strawberry matcha I unfortunately liked a little less so - it's a bad sign when the syrup/flavouring is coated against the cup rather than mixed in, I really don't understand why cafes do that. Perhaps for aesthetic appeal but most people care more about taste. So the matcha was very weak because most of it was stuck on the cup and it was very difficult trying to mix it. Please consider whisking or just pouring the syrup in rather than coating the cup beforehand

Good coffee, friendly staff, tasty and creamy latte, banana bread was a bit too sweet for me but very crunchy. Love to come back.

Tucked away just off Strathfield Centre, this bright and charming café is a hidden gem. With its light, airy, and impeccably clean interior, it offers a welcoming space for a relaxed meal. Service is friendly, efficient, and attentive, making for an enjoyable dining experience. The menu features classic Western café dishes with an Asian twist, offering unique and flavorful options. Coffee is brewed with Toby’s Estate beans and comes with a complimentary biscotti—a thoughtful touch. Standout Dishes • Mala Pasta – Cooked al dente and beautifully seasoned, this dish had the perfect balance of spice and sauciness. I first discovered it after experiencing food envy when my friend ordered the Mala Risotto on my initial visit, and I wasn’t disappointed when I returned to try it for myself. • Burger – My husband thoroughly enjoyed it, finding it flavorful and satisfying. • Strawberry Matcha Drink – Visually appealing and refreshing, though a bit on the sweeter side for my taste. This café is an absolute gem, and I’m so glad we found it. I’ll definitely be back for more!

The cutest little cafe tucked into a quiet corner of Strathfield, perfect for a Sunday morning date, catch up with friends, or do some work. I’ve been here 3 times, and every time we couldn’t help but get the mala pasta. It is flavoured so well, and filled with delicious toppings. We’ve also tried the mala risotto, triple mushroom toast, and the bacon and egg roll. Everything is perfectly flavoured and I would get any of them again, but there is so much else to try on the menu. The drinks are also an absolute standout. The strawberry matcha smoothie was shockingly tasty, as was the mango matcha latte, though both quite sweet. The Belgian mocha was perfect though. This cafe is definitely on our list of repeats and it is definitely a must try.
